Prevention of adolescent pregnancy is the ideal goal. Significant morbidity to young mothers and fathers, their children, and society is associated with adolescent pregnancy. Cooperative Extension has identified a need for educational programs that address issues associated with adolescent pregnancy. Educational efforts should be directed to both male and female teens and to the parents of pregnant adolescents.
Cooperative Extension recognizes the need to provide programs and resources that address this issue. In this document we discuss current research addressing teen pregnancy, Extension's guiding principles and goals.
